Young Women’s Project provides a safe space for any young woman or mother aged 11-19 who is facing life’s challenges, and removes the barriers so her incredible potential can shine.

what we do

For over 30 years, we’ve been helping women build their confidence and self-esteem through home visits, one-to-one support, and group sessions.

Our unique building is homely and inviting, and anything but clinical – misunderstood women feel like they have somewhere they can come to just ‘be’ without fear or judgement. It’s here they can kick off their shoes, listen to others who are struggling with life too, learn life skills, forge friendships, and build community.

why we do it

This isn’t a job, it’s a privilege. One where we watch young women build lasting friendships with their peers: people with shared experience who just get it. This is more than just a project, it’s a community. A network of support they carry forward in every part of their lives and share with others along the way.

    We’re a feminist organisation and here to challenge societal norms and tackle gender inequality. Bold, brave, and unapologetic, we champion young women’s voices and lead by example in order to create a fairer future.

    We may not be able to do it all but it doesn’t stop us trying. The hard stuff doesn’t phase us, it drives us. We’re persistent, relentless, and fiercely committed to doing everything in our power to make sure the young women we support feel validated, heard, seen, and loved.

    This is a space created with young people, where they have a genuine sense of ownership and belonging. We want every young woman who comes through our door to feel that this is her place too.

    Our intimate setting puts everyone at ease from the moment they arrive. Through our consistent, and compassionate approach which is grounded in safeguarding, we build trust so that young women feel safe enough to open up to us, knowing they’ll be met with understanding, care, and professionalism. Always human. Always respectful.

    We’ve all weathered storms of our own which means we’re eternally empathetic. Women are allowed to be themselves and their identities are celebrated. It doesn’t matter what’s going on in their life, they’re welcomed with open arms. They’re here because they want to be, and in control of forging their own path with our support.

    Our young women aren’t ‘service users’ – they’re collaborators, influencers, and leaders in their own right. When they tell us something’s going on, we listen – and we adapt. Our sessions evolve based on what they need, when they need it.

    We help young women who’ve lost their spark find their light again. They’re unique individuals with incredible potential and we’re here to show them they matter, and they can be anything they want to be. We encourage them to come out of their ‘box’ and to be ambitious. They walk forward with confidence, independence, a voice, a plan, and the courage to shape their future.

We are a rainbow in the rain.
A hug in their darkest hour.
A space where they can just ‘be’.
We’re a home visit or one-to-one session,
A group chat over hot chocolate and toast.

We’re a safe space wrapped up in care and compassion.
It’s here they can kick off their shoes,
And feel like they finally belong.

And when they leave?
They walk forward with confidence.
And the courage to shape their future.

But they never truly leave.
They’ll carry what they found here for the rest of their lives,
And pass it on for generations to come.

Because when a young woman rings our doorbell,
What she finds on the other side isn’t just guidance.

It’s friendship.
Solidarity.
And a lasting impact that continues to shape who she becomes.
